Portland, OR, USA – February 5, 2009 - iCADsales.com announced today the release of the first of a series of modules in the progeOFFICE line, tailored to link progeCAD 2009 Professional with Microsoft Office applications
progeTABLE uses Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to create tables within progeCAD, allowing a designer to import a spreadsheet into progeCAD as a table within the drawing. The data within the table can then be edited in either progeCAD 2009 Professional, or within… Continue

When you listen to the pundits, you’ll hear enough negative noise that it can’t do anything but ruin your holiday cheer. As the saying goes, “if I had a dollar for every negative word written about the economy, housing, stock market, and automobile industry, I’d be a very rich man.” There is certainly plenty of negative speak to satisfy a healthy diet of “it’s not my fault.”
“It’s not my fault” is a cold-like virus that spreads when we don’t accept responsibility for our part in… Continue
I suspect that most, if not all, revolutionary inventions of the 19th and 20th centuries came from the creative minds of more than one person, regardless of who was awarded the patent. This was especially true since the 1940s when the first “practical” semiconductor device came out of Bell Labs. My interest in this subject was piqued yesterday when I came across an archived file folder labeled “1968.” In it, I rediscovered an old electronics magazine that I had saved for some reason.… Continue
I was out stirring up trouble last night. I especially like my comment on Ralph Grabowski's article on Google Earth. I think it truly draws a fair correlation of how Autodesk has treated their customers and third party developers over the years...
The direct links are here:
Autodesk putting their R&D dollars (all 25 of them that are leftover after marketing takes their cut) to such advanced concepts.… Continue
Documentary filmmaker Gary Hustwit has posted a photograph of Jonathan Ive somewhere inside Apple's design studio, a facility rarely exposed to the general public.
"We did a follow-up interview with Jony Ive at Apple in California last week, and enjoyed the opportunity of filming inside Apple's design facilities," Hustwit wrote on a website promoting an upcoming film.
A landmark study from Aberdeen Group reports that 85% of the current CAD users still primarily use 2D drafting. This astonishing statistic means that most companies use CAD software as a drafting tool to create orthographic views to represent 3D objects.
Drawings alone are no longer adequate to capture the design innovations that engineers create. So why are we still using an approach that is open to interpretation… Continue

I came across a scan I had of a robot design / concept from what I imagined was from the 50's - and figured it was a joke of sorts, or wacky concept. The engineers even ensured that the robot had a bellows apparatus so the humanoid robot could smoke - a sure sign of the times.
It turns out a few of these were actually produced and Westinghouse… Continue
The real life WALL-E that visits newsrooms, tradeshows, and media had to look like the animated WALL-E from the movie. It takes a lot of care to make WALL-E look old and battered.
Because the animated WALL-E from the movie has been around for a long time, his digital body had been weather-worn and beat up by the work he does – compacting trash and stacking it neatly. Computer animation allowed animators to create the look and feel of a well-worn WALL-E, but… Continue
You'd probably call the police, have them arrested, and have them procescuted, correct? Then why are you letting Autodesk get away with it?
That stolen money, thats how much less you could have paid by designing with progeCAD rather than AutoCAD... "But, I know AutoCAD inside and out, I have been using it for XX years", you say... Well, If you know AutoCAD, then you know progeCAD, that how close the products…
My current focus and energy is being put into a new project, vuuch.com. The objective is the development of a system that manages design discussions. As an example, a CAD designer open a file and asks the vuuch serve to give them every discussion the team has had about that file. Now you don't need to be copied on email, just have the server provide the mail that is about the file you have opened.
President-elect Obama has committed to economic recovery, energy independence, carbon-neutral buildings by 2030 and an 80% reduction in US greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Architecture 2030 has developed a groundbreaking economic stimulus plan that, with a single investment, simultaneously addresses all of these issues. Edward Mazria and Kristina Kershner presented the 2030 Challenge Stimulus Plan last week to policymakers and industry leaders in the… Continue
WOOSTER, Ohio - Alejandro the Wind Bunny proudly demonstrated his newfound ability to sense variable air currents by maneuvering back and forth in front of two portable fans at a show-and-tell session Thursday morning in Taylor Hall. The carefully constructed device was one of three robots built by students in Susan Lehman's "Electronics for Scientists" class (Physics 220).
The assignment was to create a robot using a kit by Lego… Continue
