Morning Lina,

I have been using SolidWorks since SW95 release2. Before that I used Autocad and AME (beginning in 1986) which was a program that they bought that did Boolean class solids. I would recommend using Solidworks over Inventor after working with software from both companies. Autodesk started as a stick build cad system and Solidworks started out as a parametric solid modeling cad system.

I don't claim to be an expert by any means. I do know how to do work-a-rounds because I learned to design on the drawing board with a pencil and T-Square. When I Graduated the y required a lot of Descriptive Geometry to graduate. If you run into something no one else can solve then contact me and I will see if I can help you with it.
Have great Day

TeamViewer is a Software that you can download freely from internet, it allows any partener who you give him or her your id no. & password to remote your computer.
install it & then Try to find an earlier version of inventor & install it & then Contact me, we will arrange everything.
but you have to promise after experiencing the software , to pass what you have learned to another one for free.
have a good day

Actually Solidworks is Powerfull than inventor but inventor is still easier to learn than solidworks, above all Pro-Engineer is the best & the most complicated.
