here's the product. and if anyone interested in becoming a partner, write me.


you are driving at 35mph or more, a tailgate driver is approaching less than 15 ft, a pair of red lights (additional visible small lights) mounted in the rear at the eye level flash on to alert the tailgate driver he/she is coming too fast and too close to your vehicle. additional red lights and audio speaker mounted on the dashboard alerting that you are being tailgated. this concept works really well for tailgate drivers as well as for drivers being tailgated. it's the visual and audio warning help prevent tailgaters resulting in serious accident.

though auto makers are coming out cars with the Accident Avoidance System, this simple device costs alot less and can be installed on any type of vehicle.

You can also go old school and use and optical encoder or even simpler like a ir sensor.

you could use an inductive prox to detect each gear tooth. keep in mind, with aluminum your rated sensing distance will need a correction factor of 0.4 (with balluff). you could also use capacitive, but i'd use inductive for that if possible.

Thanks, these are very similar to the SIKO encoder/band I am currently using. Yes, it is a very good product and solution. Except...I'm have installation problems with the band. So, I was hoping to go in a different direction and make direct use of the gear teeth of the aluminum gear (MOD-1, 730 teeth). I know there are Hall-effect gear tooth encoders, but are there any that use inductive proximity or some other technology that would work with the non-ferrous metal?

Try balluff encoders; a little more expensive but well worth it.

I'm currently using a linear-type strip encoder to read the position of a large ring gear, but having problems with the strip. Is anyone familiar with a non-Hall type gear tooth encoder, that can give me relative position by reading the position and passage of aluminum gear teeth?
