BAE Systems is recruiting a Project Manager – Risk Governance in Glascoed or Telford, UK

An opportunity has arisen within the BAE Systems (BAES), Land (UK) Project Management Office (PMO) for a Project Manager – Risk Governance. You will be working with the PMO Risk & Opportunity Management Team to champion the Risk, Opportunity & Issue Management process (ROIM) across Land UK, demonstrating the value and benefits to be achieved through robust, effective and proactive risk management.

As a Project Manager – Risk Governance, you will support the Senior Project Manager – PMO Assurance with the design, deployment and delivery of reliable and consistent project and business ROIM processes. Providing specialist advice and guidance within the business when necessary based on extensive in-depth knowledge and application of ROIM processes.

You will be responsible for the businesses ROIM Business Management System (BMS) framework, ensuring ROIM processes are appropriate within the context of the business strategy and objectives, ensuring compliance with corporate mandates.    

You will also be responsible for the Governance & Assurance of ROIM across the Land UK enterprise risk framework. Providing governance and assurance that the ROIM processes are aligned to corporate RM policies, processes and Life Cycle Management (LCM) mandates to ensure the Land UK business maintains an acceptable level of compliance to the corporate Operational Framework.

You will be expected to promote and communicate the benefits of ROIM to achieve an embedded ROIM culture at all levels, ensuring effective process profile, ownership and involvement, communication between stakeholders and integration and alignment with other relevant processes and functions.

You will have the responsibility for providing assurance reports through the execution of health checks and audits to validate adherence to the business ROIM processes.

You will be expected to implement a training, development and communication regime to ensure awareness and acceptable competency levels are achieved and maintained across the business and especially within the Risk Practitioner community.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Manager – Risk Governance will involve:

Ensuring the Land (UK) business maintains compliance with requirements of the corporate BAES Risk Management Policy

Supporting the bi-annual submission of the Land UK Operational Assurance Statement (OAS) with the provision of a ROIM assurance and capability statement

Creating and maintaining the Land UK ROIM BMS in accordance with the BAES Policy and LCM Mandates

Ensuring effective and coherent deployment of risk and opportunity management across all Land (UK) Business, Programmes and Projects

Developing a Land UK Risk Management Maturity Model to establish baseline maturity levels and improvement plans

Ensuring Land UK Risk and Opportunity practitioners adhere to mandated BAES requirements and to develop suitable policies and processes to support such compliance

Developing and deploying a suitable ROIM audit regime

Ensuring that the ROIM processes are relevant and appropriate for the Land UK business whilst underpinning the business strategic objectives whilst meeting project and customer needs through its design and range of process assets

Attending and supporting the corporate Risk Management Steering Group (RMSG)

Your skills and qualifications:

Significant and extensive knowledge & experience within Risk and Opportunity Management – preferably within an operations/manufacturing environment

Knowledge of ROIM methodologies, practices and toolsets

Understanding and experience of the generic Risk and Opportunity Management process stages (i.e. identify, assess, manage and review)

Experience of ERM and escalation principles

Awareness of Risk Management & Project Management Standards

Experience of Life Cycle Management or similar project management methodology and disciplines

Academically qualified to degree level or equivalent standard in a related discipline such as the Institute of Risk Management or APM

Ability to build successful relationships and strong links with internal and external technical and professional bodies

 £40k + commensurate on skills and experience
