Are you a software vendor? Do you offer software as a service (SaaS)? If you don't just yet, hold off until you consider a few steps according to the UK IT directory.   1. Check out what existing SaaS providers are doing. Scrutinize products, packag…

Sorry, that comment was directed at David Shelton. Forgot to say that.

No, you must be thinking of someone else. But "developing POD for use with an RV-10" sounds really important! What does that mean?
February 23
I may have met you at Oskosh if you are the person that was developing the POD for use with an RV-10. If so that to me makes a lot of sense, based on the fact that most GA flights are one or two people.

I'll check out those sources. Thanks!

There's a great directory of roadable aircraft designs at www.RoadableTimes.com. Our own designs can be seen at www.MotorcyclePIlot.com. Hopefully, the integration of air + ground transportation will become more common in the next generation of pers…

I had no idea that roadable aircrafts have been around for so long! Your motorcycle carriers sound really interesting, too. Do you have a website you can share?

There have been more than a hundred roadable aircraft designs since 1917 and Terrifugia is arguably the best of the bunch. Caravella Aerospace is working on a more affordable design that's intended to be sold in kit form. There is a real need for co…

It's interesting that you should mention this. We have just run a case study on the design of an aluminium automotive part and how it can be optimised with respect to both cost and durability. http://www.enginsoft.com/newsletter/2009_3/casestudies/

I read recently that  increasingly more car engine makers are opting for aluminum because of its light weight, high strength, and corrosion resistance properties. The material is also attractive because it can help improve fuel economy while maintai…

Poor positioning of guide components on machinery used in the food industry could subject the guides to severe wash-downs, be inaccessible for routine maintenance, and become potential bacterial traps. There are linear guidance systems that can help…

Creator of the Transition Roadable Aircraft adopts CATIA Analysis and Composites Design to design its beta prototype with delivery expected in 2011.

Any pilots out there? I just reported that Terrafugia, maker of the Transition Roadable Aircraft, is going to use Catia software for design and analysis of its next prototype aircraft. If you click on the site below, you can read the news. My question to pilots: what do you think of the vehicle's capabilities both in the air and on the ground? Do you think a vehicle like this will have widespread appeal? Cost of the plane wasn't mentioned in the press release. That might have something to do wit… Continue

Autodesk University class

Today, Andy Warren conducted a class at Autodesk University called "Using Inventor to Electrify the Grid." It was geared toward users who work for electric power utilities or engineering companies that do work for them. He taught how to use Inventor to design substations for power distribution. He covered designing lace-up type towers and bays, low profile design, and all of the switches, breakers, transformers, and insulators. He also showed how to test the clearances of all of the buses and ca… Continue

More CAD plug-ins

SYCODE released CATIA V4 and V5 file import plug-ins for AutoCAD. These plug-ins help you import CATIA V4 and V5 part and assembly files into AutoCAD without the need of a CATIA license on the computer or network. The plug-ins are called CATIA V4 Import for AutoCAD and CATIA V5 Import for AutoCAD. The V4 plug-in can read CATIA V4 part and assembly (.model), export (.exp) and session (.session) files from CATIA 4.1.9 to CATIA 4.2.4. The V5 plug-in can read CATIA V5 part (.CATPart), assembly (.CAT… Continue
