Improving wear resistance on stainless steel

Hello everyone, I'm looking for ways/methods to improve wear resistance of stainless steel. I have read that some hardening techniques aren't suited for most grades of stainless steel because they either make the material too hard (and therefore more brittle) or actually cause corrosion. But now I've come across this Borinox process which is apparently perfect for stainless steel. Has anyone ever heard of that? Apparently it's a heat treatment that produced a hard surface that is very wear…See More

Hardening steel for mechanical engineering

Hi everyone, I would like to learn more about surface hardening of steel. Since hardened steel is always used in mechanical engineering, I was wondering if anyone knew more about it? Just today I learned about borocoat & boriding, a special technique by bortec that improves wear protection. You can learn more about it here. Are there any other special techniques you know about?See More

Jane Smith replied to leo's discussion Does the language of study really matter? (for mechanical engineering)
"Well, it does matter, in my honest opinion. If you're fluent in English I would definitely study at an English university because you will likely have more opportunities, but also you will have less problems understanding subjects because…"

Looking for Gas Dosing System for Lab

Hi, does anyone know where to buy gas dosing systems from? They are used to create vacuums and  high pressure for the sake of testing, or creating specific atmospheres with accurate gas mixtures. Our old one broke down on us, thus we need a new one for our lab because we test samples under different conditions, to see how much they can endure. Sometimes we need it to infuse something with different gases in order to ie strengthen its surface. I found some here at…See More

Shredder for cores

Hello everyone,I just want to present you a new shredder for cores. It’s a PHH core shredder which is a robust and fully automated machine. It shreds up to 120 cardboard cores (length: 3m) per hour. In my opinion the best information is that a shredded cardboard can be recycled with regular waste paper.Do you actually use something like…See More
