Process improvement of cambering/Heat Treatment of Leaf spring mfg.

Now a days the spring leaves are heated to 900 degree C and quenched in Oil tank pressing on the cambering fixtures.During the process a lot of smoke is generated.Can we make the process as eco friendly less air pollution.

Also while taking out of cambered/heat treated leaves from the tank,oil should not spread over the ground with less fatigue.

Have you ever considered the use of aqueous (polymer) quenchants for manufacturing leaf springs as opposed to oil based quenchants?

It was tried out but could not succeded as hairline cracks observed on the steel surface.However,we are successful the polymer quenching in Forgings.
