Alibre now has KeyShot as an add-on for rendering. It seems to be a big improvement.

Does any one out there use Alibre or alibre cam? I have not seen any discussions or comments for a while. I want to know more about surfacing and cam. Also does any one use Rhino?

Hi everyone, after starting with Cadkey Dos 6, then Solid works for 10 years I am now using Alibre, around 12 months now. The more I use it the more I like the product, sure its not Solid Works but neither is the price. I have found support is far better and can not speak highly enough of Alibre support staff
I have 30 years experience designing rigid plastic packaging and high speed tooling, if I can help anyone please contact me

I am not that advanced of a user, but I have created patent application drawings derived from Alibre models.

Hi Marc, I too was looking at Rhino for complex surfacing work. They have a free download to try and it will save 25 times before you need to purchase it.

Hi Marc and welcome to the Exchange. None of the design projects I've worked on have required any heavy duty surfacing work yet, so I haven't been forced to move in that direction. Have you used the Free Dimension application that Alibre offers?
Marc Bax Comment by Marc Bax on January 4, 2009 at 11:54pm
I've been using Alibre Design since 4 years - it does most of what I need from a 3D CAD package. Thinking about also getting Rhino for surfacing work.
